Summary
Buddy is a browser extension that helps you review crypto tokens. It doesn't sell data, doesn't show ads and never accesses your wallet.
What data it uses and why
- The token address on the page. On supported trading sites, the extension reads the URL to know which token you're looking at and fetches public data about it from DexScreener, RugCheck, GoPlus and the Solana blockchain. It doesn't read the rest of the page.
- The project's website address. If the token lists a website, its address is sent to the Buddy server, which opens it and checks public signals (domain age, templates, whether it shows the contract). Results are cached for 6 hours; nothing about you is stored.
- An anonymous install ID. A random number sent with those website checks to limit abuse. It isn't linked to your name, email or wallet.
- Your Solana RPC address (optional). If you paste your own (e.g. Helius), it's stored only in your browser.
- Your settings (character, favorites, volume, position) are stored only in your browser.
What it does NOT do
- It never accesses wallets, private keys or seed phrases.
- It doesn't log your browsing history.
- It doesn't sell or share data with advertisers.
- It never takes screenshots.
Third parties
DexScreener, RugCheck, GoPlus and the Solana RPC receive the address of the token being scanned. The project's website receives a normal visit from the Buddy server (not from you).
Extension permissions
- Trading sites: to show your buddy and read the token address from the URL.
- Storage: to keep your settings in the browser.
- Active tab and scripting: to call it on other pages when you click the icon.
- Network rules: to remove the browser's Origin header only on requests to the public Solana RPC, which otherwise rejects extensions.
Not financial advice
Buddy shows signals from public data that can be incomplete or wrong. It is not financial or investment advice.
